About MoreMarin.com
We’re a fast-growing news and features website bringing our
readers more interesting, more compelling and more important stories about the
people, places and things in Marin County.
MoreMarin.com debuted in Spring of 2008, as a small,
online-only news source. Since then, we’ve added multiple sections including
cultural, environmental and outdoor activities coverage, food reviews and the
most comprehensive and up-to-date restaurant database in Marin.
The big guys have taken notice—we’ve recently partnered
with
SFGate.com. Our stories now appear on their website daily, and that
has boosted our traffic dramatically.
About our staff
MoreMarin.com was conceived by former television journalist Pam Gould. Before MoreMarin.com, Pam worked for NBC News in New York, but
she was happy to trade the East Coast lifestyle to return to Marin where she had
happily lived during the 80s and 90s. Pam is the story planner, writer and
editor when she’s not busy exploring West Marin.
Most of the photography you see on our site is the work of
Bill Scholtz. His past life in high tech comes in handy because he is also the
site webmaster. As a transplanted Easterner, Bill is thrilled to live in a
place where he can row nearly every day.
We also have guest contributors who help deliver our great content. Here's the
current list--
Danielle Schubert, our dining diva, gives her readers the real deal in her
Dining with Danielle restaurant reviews. Danielle, who grew up in Marin
and owns the
Mill Valley Hat Box, spends a lot of her time in restaurants and considers
herself a major foodie. She delights in all cuisines and you'll delight in her
reviews.
Chef Elizabeth Howes was raised in a family of inspired cooks. Her bi-coastal
upbringing, which exposed her to foods ranging from lobster in Boston to organic
produce in Southern California, greatly influenced her style of cooking.
Elizabeth's recipe creations draw inspiration from seasonal, organic and locally
available ingredients. She is the chef/owner of
Saffron Lane--a private chef and boutique catering company based in Marin,
with clients in San Francisco and Marin. Chef Howes writes on food in her
column,
Bonne Bouche, which translates loosely to "good bite".
Splash and Dash = sports in the water and on the land and nobody is
better equipped to give you the drill than Coach Dorette Sommer-Franks. Dorette,
and her husband Duane, coach bikers, runners and swimmers for their business,

be found running, swimming and on her stand up paddle board when not training
other athletes.
Once a week, we run a small feature called

by TMc, our resident mystery historian. TMc prefers to remain anonymous but you
will find her weekly 'legends' anything but invisible. We post them every
Wednesday around lunchtime.
