Marin County Father Of "American Taliban" Calling For Pardon
Claiming his son was used as a scapegoat for the failings of the U.S. government, Frank Lindh addressed a roomful of USF law students yesterday, pressing for his son's early release. John Walker Lindh- the so-called "American Taliban" who was convicted in 2002 on charges of participating in the Taliban army- has been serving a 20 year sentence in California. Lindh, who grew up in San Anselmo, spent several years in Afghanistan with the Taliban but claims he never intended to fight against the U.S. and would not have joined the Taliban if he knew their intentions. Frank Lindh is working on a petition to ask President Bush to issue a pardon for his son.
