According to this Marin IJ report, the 22-year-old San Rafael resident who was found slain near his apartment building on Monday evening was a community volunteer who had just moved into a new apartment hours before he was killed.
Donald Ordonez, who had moved to San Rafael four years ago from his native Guatemala, had worked at several jobs and was a volunteer at Canal Alliance. People there were in shock over his murder.
Ordonez was found shot to death in the courtyard of his apartment on Larkspur Street. Police have no suspects yet but witnesses reported hearing several shots so there could've been more than one shooter. The murder was the first this year for San Rafael. Another murder that occurred nearly one year ago, and still remains unsolved, is the slaying of Ashley Yamouchi.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the San Rafael Police Department at (415)485-3000.
