Buckelew Programs, an organization that assists individuals with mental health problems in Marin County, is one of twelve finalists in an international competition for solutions to improving mental health services.
The competition called Rethinking Mental Health: Improving Community Wellbeing, was sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Ashoka's Changemakers. The competition welcomed participants worldwide, and received more than 340 submissions.
Buckelew's entry, Rethinking Mental Health Employment Services to Create Real Jobs: Blue Skies Personnel Services, was based on their Blue Skies Personnel Service program which trains and places persons with mental illness into paying positions in the community. MoreMarin featured Buckelew's Blue Skies Cafe when it opened for business in March.
The contest ends December 9, and there's still a little time left to vote for Buckelew's entry online here!
