Two Marin County Sheriff deputies, who just happened to be driving up to the Richmond toll plaza and who witnessed the shootings of two people there, are being criticized for not doing enough. According to the Contra Costa Times--
"In the days following the homicides, law enforcement circles in the East Bay were buzzing with questions about whether the Marin detectives reacted appropriately, according to the Contra Costa Times. The most vehement questioned why Marin detectives did not directly intervene when lives were at stake."
Now, the Marin County Sheriff's department has responded in a written press release--
"Sheriff Doyle commended his detectives and their actions. Sheriff Doyle expressed outrage at critics who were not present at the scene, and yet are second-guessing the actions of the deputies who were at the scene."
It goes on to say this about the 'rift' between the Richmond Police and the Sheriff's department--
"The controversy in this case has been driven by the media, not by either the Sheriff’s Office or the Richmond Police Department."
