Seven Marin youth who sing for the SF Boys Chorus, are traveling today with the SF Girls Chorus to Washington D.C. to perform in the inauguration ceremonies for President Barack Obama next week.
The two choruses, 43 members each, held a free concert yesterday, in the San Francisco City Hall rotunda, performing the repertoire of their patriotic selections they will sing at the ceremony. It was standing room only in the beautiful space, and the singers gathered on the steps to be introduced by SF Mayor Gavin Newsom.
It's an extraordinary privilege that we've been afforded," Mayor Newsom began, then added, "...to perform for a new President that we've chosen wisely."
That comment received thunderous applause from the large crowd. A few minutes later the youth began to sing and everyone was treated to the pre-inaugural concert. We recorded some of it for you to enjoy here, and just below the video are more photos-
